Primary School

Save our nature – Let’s explore together: Videos for primary

Whether for teaching at home or for differentiated instruction in the classroom, explanatory videos offer a helpful supplement for teachers, allowing them to show experiments and scientific phenomena.

Science on Stage Germany invited primary teachers from all over Europe to participate in a project on the development of explanatory and experiment videos. The topic of the videos is "Save our nature".

Together, teachers from nine countries developed these teaching materials over the course of two years. They include learning videos on environmental topics for primary school, ages 4 to 12, that encourage both inquiry-based learning and provide explanations for phenomena. Additional materials and instructions accompany the videos.

The first project meeting took place in April 2023 in Berlin. The second meeting took place in March 2024 in Prague.

The publication event

On 8 April 2025, Science on Stage Germany published the new teaching materials in a virtual launch event. During the event, the authors and project coordinators provided a direct insight into the content and how to use it.

About the project

The teaching material covers five topics:

A total of 18 different experiments are published.

The experiments are aimed at various age groups between 4 and 12 years and diverse levels of difficulty.

The aims of this project were:

  • Create explanatory and experiment videos by teachers for teachers about the topic “Save our nature by understanding it!”
  • Develop accompanying materials for primary school for differentiated teaching approaches
  • Promote communication skills, teamwork and creativity of the children

We want to further qualify primary school teachers and show them another approach to STEM subjects so that they can enthuse pupils for these subjects. We also want to provide primary school teachers with knowledge on how to incorporate digital elements into their lessons.
