Dr. Selçuk Yusuf Arslan completed his PhD in the Educational Leadership programme at Hacettepe University, Ankara. His doctoral thesis focused on STEM policies for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In 2023, Dr. Arslan was selected as the world winner in the Environmental Protection and Moral Leadership category in the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World programme for his teaching model integrating coding teaching and climate education with an interdisciplinary approach. He focuses on developing girls' coding skills and contributing to global goals through STEM and technology. Arslan, who has received numerous international awards with his students, continues to teach with great passion. In 2021, he became a Science on Stage ambassador. The teaching resource “Recycling Smart” was co-written by his colleague Timur Gündoğan and his students at Atatürk Vocational and Technical Highschool, Abdüssamed Kuru, Cafer Berat Gülsoy and Melissa Asya Yıldırım.

Portrait photo of Daniel Janssen Dr. Daniel Janssen studied computer science and PE for secondary school at the University of Münster. After that he worked as a PhD student in the department of Training Science at the University of Münster and in the Department of Training and Movement Science at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Since 2012 Janssen has been teaching computer science and physical education in Osnabrück, Ratingen, Emsdetten and finally at Gymnasium Dionysianum in Rheine in Northwestern Germany. In addition to his teaching activities, he completed his dissertation at the Department of Sports Science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2016. Janssen joined Science on Stage as a participant in Germany’s National Science on Stage Festival in 2018, where he presented his teaching project “Machine Learning in School” and was chosen as one of eleven German projects to take part in the European Science on Stage Festival 2019 in Portugal.

Photo of teacher Cláudia MeirinhosCláudia Meirinhos has worked as a primary school teacher for over 20 years and is currently teaching at Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos, Portugal. She is a “MagicSchool AI” Certified Trainer and wrote her Master’s dissertation on Artificial Intelligence educational practices in the Primary School. The teaching projects she created or participated in have received numerous awards and honours. “EcoKids Teach AI” has been selected for the Portuguese delegation to the International Science on Stage festival in Turku in August 2024.

Photo of teacher Paulo TorcatoPaulo Torcato graduated in Applied Maths, Computer Science, from the Autonomous University of Lisbon. He is currently teaching in the Computer Science group at the Portela e Moscavide School Group. He has a postgraduate qualification in STEAM Education and is a member of the International Institute of Organised Research (I2OR – India), the Global Trainer Academy and the Portuguese Mathematical Society as well as a founding member of the National Association of Computer Science Teachers. Torcato works as a co-operating teacher on the Master's Degree in Teaching and Informatics at the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon. He has been a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert since 2016 and is a founder and coordinator of the projects “O Robot Ajuda!” and “aTTitude3D (Educar, Ensinar, Educar)”. In 2023, he received a Global Teachers Award from the AKS Awards Organisation.
 

Photo of teacher Paul TylerPaul Tyler has been teaching in primary schools since 2007 and in that time has had many roles, almost all of them involving one or more aspects of STEM. He is currently teaching Sustainable Engineering and Creativity at Kirkhill Primary School in Scotland and trying to inspire the next generation of engineers. Tyler is a long-serving member of the Association of Science Educators and a Fellow of the Primary Science Teaching Trust. He presents and writes about a wide range of issues relating to primary science. He is also co-founder of My Science Club. He has recently developed an interest in Artificial Intelligence and how we can teach children about how it works, where it is used and the impact it could have on their futures. His project “First Steps in AI and Data Analysis” is the culmination of a lot of research, a lot of trial and error and a lot of testing of ideas in class.
