Training teachers for the future: Quantum Technology & AI workshop
On November 16, Mariana Filipova of the STEALM Academy and Kalin Angelov from the Department of Information and In-Service Training of Teachers at Sofia University offered a workshop for a group of middle and high school educators. The event benefitted from a "Coding for our Future" grant for teacher training activities in the field of coding and digital literacy.
The goal was not only to provide information and recognition as a result of the training but also to inspire and motivate the participants. Alongside a presentation, printed materials specifically created for this occasion included methodological approaches for explaining quantum and AI concepts to school-age students, as well as a mind map and an educational comic on the topic to complement the theoretical knowledge and practical online resources in the presentation. Interdisciplinary connections in education were emphasised to boost enthusiasm and creativity, and to showcase the application of quantum technologies across all fields of science, business, and life in general. To further this approach, the presenters demonstrated the role of art through STEM origami, showing how to create Schrodinger’s cat out of paper. The participants left inspired to educate their students with this new knowledge and expressed interest in joining future workshops.
The "Coding for our Future" grant scheme supported by Amazon Future Engineer continues into 2025. Find out more on the program and how to apply on our project page.
