Training Action: Teach STEM
On February 1, 2023, the Training Action Teach STEM with Science on Stage Portugal, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals took place. It was organized by the Training Center of the Association of Schools of the Municipalities of Ílhavo, Vagos and Oliveira do Bairro, with the support of NUCLIO and Science on Stage Portugal.
The event, which had 36 participants, began with the NSC Coordinator, Isabel Borges, presenting Science on Stage: What is Science on Stage and why and how to apply for the next National Festival? During this national festival, the Portuguese delegation for the 2024 Science on Stage International Festival to be held in Turku, Finland will be selected.
Two workshops followed her presentation. The first one was promoted by two teachers, Fátima Pires and Flora Leiria, who were part of the Portuguese delegation present at the Science on Stage 2022 Festival in Prague, and who shared with their colleagues the projects presented at the festival, allowing them to test some scenarios of learning and activities.
The second workshop, presented by our Science on Stage Ambassador teacher Liliana Fernandes, was about the Sustainable Development Goals in STEM Education and the new Science on Stage teaching materials and led teachers to carry out practical activities.
Between the two workshops, the NSC coordinator also presented STEM and Inquiry-based Learning, supporting how to teach science in the 21st century.
