#sons2024: Serbian projects selected
Organised by the Institute for Contemporary Education, the second national festival "Science on Stage" was successfully held at Primary School Savremena on Saturday, September 23, gathering teachers from all over the country.
With 20 contestants from various schools and cities across the country, this year's SonS festival finale was very inspiring. Participants presented their projects, research papers, and innovations in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The works covered a wide range of topics, from ecology to robotics, showing the creativity and research enthusiasm of the teachers.
After strict evaluation and assessment, representatives who will represent Serbia at the international SonS festival in Turku, Finland, were selected. They are Dragan Golubović ("Physics as a Fairytale"), Jelena Babić and Ljiljana Sokolović ("The Magical Apple"), Vesna Hlavati Širka ("Pigeon Genetics"), Vesela Mačkić and Biljana Jokić ("Shedding Light on Physics").
This prestigious event brings together teachers from around the world, providing them with an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences, promote their projects, and gain international recognition.
In addition to selecting representatives for the international competition, four special awards were presented during the festival, recognising outstanding contributions and innovations in various STEM fields. The awardees were Olga Dukić ("Smart House"), Zorana Milićević ("Scoby Dooby Do"), Aleksandar Dimitrijević ("Extruder for PET G Filament Production"), and Biljana Kalafatić ("Measurement Adventure in the enchanted STEM City").
The festival's Special guests were Miloš Laković from Montenegro and Michael Gregory from France. They shared their experiences with workshop participants, thus significantly enriching the festival's program.
The SonS festival is a competitive event and a great opportunity for professional development and knowledge exchange. Teachers attended various training programs, including professional meetings, panels, and workshops, contributing to their continuous professional growth and allowing them to improve their practice in STEM education.
We expect this generation of teachers and innovators to continue setting standards of excellence in STEM fields, and Serbia to take pride in their contributions to scientific progress.
Congratulations to all participants, winners of special awards, and representatives of Serbia at the international SonS festival in Finland. Let's continue to explore, innovate, and contribute to a better world of education together!
