Sneak peek at AI in STEM teaching material
On April 19th, Science on Stage Europe board member Liliana Fernandes presented two innovative teaching projects to an audience of around 250 teachers at the Teacher Training Center Braga/Sul directed by Dr. Ana Paula Vilela in the Portuguese city of Braga. The event entitled "Climatic justice and Natural and Cultural Heritage valorisation" was part of a cycle of seminars on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Portugal's Carnation Revolution on April 25th.
The event provided an opportunity to learn about two "Citizenship Intervention projects" relating to STEM and sustainability: a teaching project by Liliana Fernandes and two Portuguese colleagues as well as the "Recycling Smart" project by Science on Stage ambassador Selçuk Yusuf Arslan and his student-teacher team from the Atatürk Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi in Ankara, Türkiye. This innovative coding project involving machine-learning-based object recognition for the good of the planet was one of the Future League finalists in 2023 and will be published as a digital teaching resource on the Science on Stage website, free to use and adapt by all.
Stay tuned for this and four more creative and inspiring teaching resources to be launched this summer as part of Science on Stage Germany's "AI in STEM Education" project supported by Amazon Future Engineer.
