Selçuk Arslan is nominated for the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards
Every year, the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards honor a teacher who did something wonderful in his or her field of work. The selection process is multi-staged: In a first round, teachers are nominated by somebody they are in contact with in their profession – a student, a colleague, or a parent. A jury then selects regional winners who are, in a last step, up for a final public vote to become the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award winner of the year.
Out of more than 11.000 nominations, the six regional winners for this year have now been announced. The winner of the region Europe is Science on Stage Europe ambassador Selçuk Yusuf Arslan from Türkiye. He was nominated because of his dedicated work for the “STEM Stands Together Project”. In this project, Selçuk offers STEM workshops that bring together Turkish students with immigrant students in his school. The student who nominated Selçuk describes the effects of this offer as follows: “Our academic skills improved and we made new friendships. We broke the communication barrier. In fact, I learned that I should not be prejudiced against immigrants”.
The public vote for the award is now open. You can have a look at Selçuks profile as well as the ones of the other five regional winners here: https://dedicatedteacher.cambridge.org/vote/
