Length of a Day: Altitude of the sun, ecliptic & rotation of the earth
Overview
In this teaching unit, the students measure and calculate the length of the day.
With the help of a computer programme, they make a graph of the sun's position on the horizon during the day and compare the values of several days.
For this unit, the students should be between 15 and 18 years old, as a certain knowledge of trigonometry and astronomy is required.
