Workshop: Development of research skills in STEM lessons
On November 30, the workshop “Development of research skills in STEM lessons” was held in Jelgava, Latvia. Fifteen science teachers working in primary schools discussed and practically tried out methods and approaches about how to develop students’ interests and skills to do research.
Several activities from the teaching material “Lilu house” were tried out and discussed how to integrate these activities into the school curricula and out-of-class activities, e g. interest groups.
Science on Stage Latvia presented the teachers material developed by European teachers “Lantern moon and hot ears”. The material has been translated into Latvian and is available to teachers online. Each participant of the event received a printed copy of the book.
This was also the date that the national Science on Stage teachers competition was launched in Latvia. The teachers discussed the regulations and themes and former participants shared their experiences and inspired the participants to prepare their projects.
