Virtual Science on Stage events in Greece
On February 22nd, 2025, the webinar "Online presentation of Science on Stage projects – Greece 2024" took place. All Greek participants of the main Greek event "12th Panhellenic Science Construction and Experiment Competitions" presented their innovative and interesting educational projects online. These projects could not participate in the Science on Stage Festival 2024 in Turku, Finland, due to a limited number of places for Greek teachers. Additionally, the Greek Science on Stage coordinator presented Science on Stage Europe, how to participate in national or international festivals as well as other events of Science on Stage Greece and Europe, and announced the "13th Panhellenic Science Construction and Experiment Competition" for the selection of participants in the next festival 2026.
All teachers interested in STEAM education could participate, and 100 people attended. The webinar was organized by the Head of the Science on Stage Greece programme Ms. Eugenia Tsitopoulou-Christodoulides in collaboration with the Head of Laboratory Centre of Physical Sciences of Rethymnon Mr. Konstantinos Chalkiadakis. On March 19th, 2025, a live connection was made to the ATLAS detector of the LHC accelerator at CERN, on the French-Swiss border. It was the last presentation of the program of virtual visits to the ATLAS experiment from the underground facilities of the detector. The recording of the livestream was viewed over 2000 times in one week and is available on YouTube.
The presentation was organised by the Coordinator of the Science on Stage Greece programme Ms. Eugenia Tsitopoulou-Christodoulides and the member of the Greek committee Mr. Astrinos Tsoutsoudakis in collaboration with Greek researchers of the ATLAS experiment at CERN.
