SonS Serbia: Activities in October
1. Anniversary of the Birth of Serbian Scientist Mihajlo Pupin - Pupin Week at ITHS
In honour of the anniversary of the birth of the famous Serbian scientist Mihajlo Pupin, ITHS organised Pupin Week. Throughout the week, students and teachers participated in various activities dedicated to celebrating Pupin's contribution to science and technology. The events included presentations and discussions that highlighted Pupin's groundbreaking work in telecommunications, and physics and his role in advancing scientific thought. Pupin Week also served as an opportunity for students to explore the impact of his inventions on modern technology, fostering inspiration for future innovators. Through interactive projects, ITHS highlighted the importance of scientific research, innovation and Pupin's legacy in the global scientific community. Pupin's week lasted from October 4th to 11th. The organisers of the event are the director of the Information Technology school of Milena Ilić, the Director of the Information Technology High School - ITHS Nikola Dragović and Andrijana Vasić, the coordinator of SonS in Serbia. On the last day of celebrating the anniversary of Mihajlo Pupin's birth on October 11, a competition and presentation of STEM projects to students was held. 16 teachers from ITHS who teach STEM subjects participated in the event 15 students exhibited their projects.
2. EU code week - Marking EU Code Week at ITHS
From October 14th to 18th, EU Code Week was celebrated at ITHS. Ana Živković, a teacher at the Information Technology High School - ITHS, and Andrijana Vasić, the coordinator of SonS Serbia, presented projects they worked on with students on the school premises. The focus of these projects was coding video games. Both colleagues and students had the opportunity to learn about these innovative coding activities. The teachers and students presented the project during a lecture on Friday, October 18th. The lecture was attended by 22 students and 12 STEM subject teachers. The participating teachers from ITHS teach the following subjects: Mathematics, Electronics, Databases, Programming, Informatics, Information System Security, Computer Networks, Electrical Engineering, Practical Training, and Web Programming.
