Researcher’s Night in Jelgava
On Friday, 27 September, the "Researchers' Night 2024" took place in Jelgava where preschool and primary school students with their parents could participate in 22 educational and exciting workshops to explore the theme “Magic or science?” and see how the science rules can be seen and applied in everyday life.
The event was opened by a magician Dante Enrico Pecolli who showed magic tricks and afterwards, the children could participate in various experiments with magnets, liquids, colours, wood, etc.
The students learned about balance and how to find the centre of gravity, how to make coloured drinks using liquids with different densities, what friction is and how it works. They could try out drone programming, wooden computer game simulators, how smart homes work and many other exciting experiments.
The teachers and students from Jelgava municipality schools, former participants of “Science on Stage” festivals and the staff of Zemgale region human resource and competencies development centre where the magicians who ran interactive workshops and more than 400 pupils with their parents could explore the magic of science.
