Europe's best teaching projects for STEM education
Prague, 28.03.2022: Thirteen STEM teachers won the European STEM Teacher Award at the European Science on Stage Festival 2022 in Prague, Czech Republic.
Making science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (short: STEM) a vivid and exciting experience? The teachers at the 12th Science on Stage festival surely know how to enthuse their students about science.
From 24 to 27 March 2022 around 350 teachers from over 30 countries came together at Europe’s largest educational fair for STEM teachers at the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague. They presented their innovative teaching concepts in a fair, in workshops, and on stage to like-minded colleagues and networked across borders.
These were four days full of exciting discussions, great ideas, and wonderful experiences.
Mariya Gabriel, Member of the European Commission, opened the event and praised the teachers: “Science educators play a key role at the heart of our education systems. From something abstract, they create a personal understanding and change how we live. Your mission is of paramount importance.
Europe’s best STEM teachers 2022
Thirteen teachers received the European STEM Teacher Award for their particularly outstanding projects. The prize winners hail this year from the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. With projects like “Defying Gravity!” or “Astrobiology: a new tool to engage primary school students into science”, they not only amazed their colleagues but also the international jury.
Their projects will now find their way into classrooms across Europe through webinars, teacher training or as teaching materials disseminated by the non-profit education initiative Science on Stage Europe.
Thus, teachers and their students across Europe will benefit from this event.

The European Science on Stage Festival 2022
The 12th European Science on Stage festival was hosted by Elixir do škol with the main support of the Municipality of Prague, the Česká spořitelna foundation and The JABLOTRON foundation, in cooperation with Science on Stage Europe and Science on Stage Czech Republic. It was under the patronage of Mariya Gabriel, Member of the European Commission and was endorsed by the Czech Ministry of Education. The next European Science on Stage festival will take place in Torku, Finland.
Science on Stage Europe brings together science teachers from across Europe to exchange best practice and teaching ideas and concepts among passionate colleagues from over 30 countries. Science on Stage Europe believes that the best way to improve science teaching and to encourage more schoolchildren to consider a career in science or engineering is to motivate and inform their teachers. The non-profit organisation was founded in 2000 and reaches 100,000 teachers Europe-wide.
The main supporter of the network Science on Stage is the Federation of German Employers’ Associations in the Metal and Electrical Engineering Industries (GESAMTMETALL) with its initiative think ING.
